Yahoo 360: editing and permalinks confusion
Marc Canter just asked: So where are the permalinks on Yahoo 360 ?.
Yes Marc, there are permalinks (here is one) but they are not displayed in "Edit" mode. Yahoo 360 has this concept of multi-level visibility of information, which allows you to control who sees what depending on one's degree of separation with you. There is also the concept of "You" view which allows you to edit content.
When you are clicking on the "My Blog" link you are in this "Edit" mode. For some reason, the Y!360 developer/designer has decided that it was not relevant to display the permalink when editing. You therefore need to click on the "View Blog" on the left hand side to switch to the View mode of your blog, and get your permalinks (as you can see on this picture of your Y!360 blog).
There is another issue: in "Edit" mode, the URL of your blog is http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog/, which is the generic URL of every Y!360 user's blog. You have to switch to the "View" mode to get your "real" URL: http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-Tecvgcw8erTjcLP0N6FSUuTB. And if you enable the Simple URL in Basic Info setup screen, then you'll be reachable as http://blog.360.yahoo.com/marccanter.
The design choice was to offer an "in place" edit mode, I guess to make it easier for non bloggers. But it is true that it is a tad confusing.
I'll leave a message to Randy to mention this post.
PS: Why did you turn trackbacks off on your main blog ?
