BlogBurst: bringing blog content to MSM online properties
I had a chance to catch up with Dave Panos, Pluck’s CEO, during TechCrunch 5. He told me about the latest product the company is just launching: BlogBurst. BlogBurst is a service allowing large publishers to integrate blog posts they choose on their online publications. Bloggers sign up for the service, providing a detailed profile of their blog: description, categories, tags, etc. Benefits for the blogger: personal satisfaction & additional traffic (?). Benefits for the publisher: access to specific/expert content through content management tools that make the selection and syndication simple.
This is an interesting service (Dave invited me to join). It is reportedly being tried by the Washington Post, the SF Chronicle and a couple of other online properties. Arguably, these publishers could - on their own - take in our RSS feeds, and select the pieces of content they are interested in – provided that the license used on the blog allows for it. So BlogBurst offers convenience, by selecting quality content and offering management tools. I wonder if there will be a revenue share of some sort, or a payment similar to Op’ed pieces, at some point.

I am getting mixed views about Blogburst. On the one hand, my blog is now listed in its Arts section while on the other hand some people are saying that anyone who applies gets included.
