Do you often have that anger of having a lot to blog about, and no time. I am in that situation now, as I am seating at San Jose Airport waiting for my flight to Phoenix. Here are a few notable briefs:
- Demo 2006 is kicking off tonight. Over the next couple of days, 69 companies are going to present to an audience of VCs, journalists, corporate development executives of large companies tracking consumer, enterprise and internet trends. I am looking forward to meeting some of the companies I have been tracking for a few months.
- Talking about exciting Demo companies, portfolio company Kaboodle will be one of the companies presenting, and they will be showing a number of new features: item page, tagging, search, personal profile page and social connections. Brian Smith over at ComparisonEngines.com also has a brief post about these. Kaboodle has become a must use for everybody in the Clavier family (including my 8–year old) when we need to save and compare stuff we are shopping for – a pattern that seems to be very consistent with other users’.
- FON, Martin Varsavksy’s latest company, announced a $21M Series A. What is remarkable is the financing syndicate: Skype, Google, Sequoia Capital and Index Ventures, as the lead investor. Like Scoble, I hung out at Martin’s during Les Blogs last December and he shared his financing plans with me at that time. The speed at which FON put together this funding is a testament to Martin’s track record.
- TechCrunch en Francais dans le texte: thanks to the efforts of Ouriel Ohayon, Web 2.0’s uberblog is now available in French at fr.techcrunch.com. I will be guest-blogging there (en francais as well), every now and then.
- Registrations for the SDForum Search SIG on Classifieds Search (at Google, 6:30pm on Wed 2/8th) are going strong. Don’t wait for the last minute. Note that NewRoo will launch at the event – using the “New Company LaunchPad” at the end of the program.
